Treasure Valley Trailblazers

Dirt under your tires. Mountains in your heart.

About Us

The Treasure Valley Trailblazers are a youth mountain biking team competing under the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). Our team brings together student-athletes from schools across the Treasure Valley in southwestern Idaho β€” including Boise, Nampa, Meridian, Caldwell, Eagle, and Star.

We believe mountain biking builds more than fitness β€” it builds character. Our program emphasizes inclusive participation, positive culture, personal growth, and love of the outdoors. No athlete is cut; everyone rides.

Whether you're clipping in for the first time or chasing podiums, you have a place on the Trailblazers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any student in grades 6–12 attending a school in the Treasure Valley is welcome to join! You don't need prior mountain biking experience β€” we welcome complete beginners through advanced riders. NICA's philosophy is that every athlete deserves the chance to ride.

At minimum, your athlete needs a mountain bike in good working condition and a properly fitted CPSC-certified helmet. For racing, a full-finger glove is also required. Eye protection is strongly encouraged. We can help connect families with gear resources β€” just ask!

Fees include a NICA student membership, team registration, and race entry fees. We work hard to keep costs accessible and have sponsorship and financial assistance available for families who need it. Contact us for a full fee breakdown for the current season.

Practices are open to all registered athletes. Racing is encouraged but not mandatory β€” your athlete can participate in team practices and community rides without competing in NICA events. That said, racing is a ton of fun and a great experience we highly recommend!

The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) is a nonprofit that creates high school and middle school mountain biking leagues across the United States. NICA focuses on developing strong body, mind, and character in student-athletes through the sport of mountain biking. Learn more at nationalmtb.org.

Reach out to us using the contact form below or send us an email. We'll get you set up with a NICA membership, team registration, and everything you need to start riding with us. We hold a sign-up night before each season β€” watch our social media for announcements.

Parent volunteers are the backbone of our team! Opportunities include coaching (NICA coach certification provided), ride leading, race-day support, fundraising, and team logistics. No biking experience is required to volunteer. Every family is encouraged to contribute in some way.
